Grass Seed

Is there a way to save the grass seed i just spread after spreading weed & feed immediately after?

I did everything by the book in an effort to grow grass (fescue) in my back yard. I thought it might help if I spread some weed & feed after aerating and spreading the grass seed, lime, turf starter fertilizer and peat moss. I just read that spreading weed & feed is bad for new seeds and Im wondering if I can somehow salvage my project after all this work?

You can't undo the weed and feed so I would just wait and see what happens. Fescue is one tough grass and weed and feed mostly targets broad leaf weeds so you may be okay after all. You did waste your money on the "feed" part because you already had turf starter fertilizer. It sounds like you did a great job getting your area ready and even if your grass doesn't make it, it will be easy in the early spring to replant. Good luck.

Time to Start Thinking About Your Deer Plot Grass Seed Choices

It's January. It's cold and snow is on the ground. Why in the world should you be thinking about Pasture Grass Seeds of any sort this time of year? As with anything in life, it is always smart to plan ahead. It's better to have time and do some research on what you really need rather than scramble at the last minute hoping you can get the correct pasture grass seeds.

So what exactly are Pasture Grasses?  Pasture Grass Seeds were developed to help Farmers and Ranchers improve the health and yield of their life stock while working with nature. There are many different types of pasture grasses so it is important to think of your climate and your soil when trying to determine which will work best for you.  A pasture grass seed to keep in mind, no matter what your pasture needs, is one that contains High Sugar Grasses (HSG).

What are High Sugar Grasses?  HSG is the term given to new ryegrass varieties that have been bred to contain very high sugar. They make thick, lush pastures and are very weather tolerable.  They can withstand hot, dry summers and biter cold winters. The sugar gives them extra energy to quickly re-grow after grazing and they help crowd out weeds.  What can High Sugar Grasses

(HSGs) mean for your livestock?  Well, it can mean beefier cattle, more milk and larger goats and sheep.  HSGs have also been known to improve digestibility, boost energy and reduce the need for supplements. This can save you money on your supplement feed bills and is a all around benefit for both you and your livestock

If you are trying to attract and manage more wildlife to you land, Food Plot Grass Seed need to be considered. Weather you are looking to attract deer and other wildlife or feeding your managed wildlife food plots, natural food plot grass seed blends should be considered. Again, a seed that contains HSG can be very hard for deer and other wild life to resist. You want to find a deer grass seeds that winters well and creates fool proof food plots year after year.

So when considering pasture grasses and food plot grass make sure you look in to HSG seeds. You may need to spend more for these blends but in the long run they will save you both time and money And remember, great farms start with great pastures and great pastures start with great seeds.

Bon Iver is a play on “bon hiver” which is French for “good winter” not “cold winter” like the dj said.

I seem to recall another time one of the kids at Aces saw me/us playing smash bros while we waited for the tourny to start and said something to the effect of “you don't know how to play as fox.” I seem to recall in the immediate 1-on-1, 3 or 4 life stock challenge he didn't kill me once. I remember he was decently good at stringing together a bunch of quick, slightly damaging, somewhat pointless moves, but hadn't realized it's far more important to throw someone off the edge and keep them off than it is to inflict damage.

Though it seems the economy is causeing the down fall in american jobs, many company contunie to hire because there not feeling the affects of the downfall. jobs are still avabile in education, health care, the federal government, nuclear power industrie and banks are hireing engineers. many jobs in the health care industre are being hired due to the olderly and the medicaine and the amount of look after they need. veterinarians are being hired because of the life stock growth. The dollars stores even hireing because more people are shoping at cheaper places. so even though it seems there are no jobs the economy is still providing jobs for the lucky people who can beat you to the punch.

Sunday afternoon, sleepy and quiet and this Sunday glorious gorgeous day. I laid in the swing in the back yard watching the birds and loving the calm serenity of the Georgia sunshine. Refusing to turn on the tube or even look at the Sunday paper.Gloomy Monday will arrive soon enough, live in the moment and drink in the peace of Sunday afternoon!

Runoff from dairy farms not only includes bacteria from cow droppings but can also include items such as phosphates and other minerals that can have negative effects.

As far as how it effects the water, the cow droppings can carry e-coli bacteria (which will cause severe intestinal problems in humans), the phosphates/misc minerals can incourage growth of water organisms that will choke out the waters natural oxegen content.

Those are the 2 main big issues w/dairy farm runoff.

The DMZ sure is beautiful this time of year. Razor wire looks so welcoming under a light dusting of snow.
